Hey everyone,
So, I've got a bit of news about Blobl.io. It's been a ride, honestly. When I started, it was just a side project, something I whipped up to learn a few things. Never in a million years did I think it would get the attention it did.
But here's the thing: running a game, even a small one, takes a lot of time and, yeah, money. And after a year of juggling everything on my own, it's started to feel less like a passion project and more like... well, work. And if I'm being honest, it's not really covering its costs. I've reached that point where the fun's just not there anymore, and if it's not fun, and it’s costing me, it doesn't make sense to keep it going.
Still, I really do appreciate the 10,000+ players who checked it out, the 100,000+ visits, and the folks who put in serious time. You guys really made it more than I ever thought it would be. I especially want to thank the Patreon supporters who helped out along the way, the people on Discord who were constantly suggesting improvements and hunting down bugs, and a huge shoutout to Avtraxi for the awesome artwork. You all made this project far more fun :P
Blobl.io will be shutting down on March 7th, 2025. After that, I'll be making the complete source code available on GitHub. So, if you're curious about how it all worked, or if you want to tinker with it yourself, you'll be able to.
